The settlement is aimed at compensating those harmed by discriminatory underfunding of the First Nations Child and Family Services Program, as well as those impacted by the federal government’s narrow interpretation of Jordan’s Principle. Nine Classes are included in this Settlement. Each of the nine Classes is unique and will have its own Claims Process that requires approval by the Federal Court. The Claims Period for each Class will open in phases and we are currently supporting the first two Classes. As a Bilingual Claims Helper based in community, you will walk alongside Class Members throughout their claims journey by providing clear information about the settlement and claims process and offering trauma-informed one-on-one support, virtually or by phone.
